HSBC Foreign-Exchange Executive Charged With Fraudulent Trading

HSBC head of foreign-exchange cash trading Mark Johnson, left, leaves U.S. District Court in Brooklyn Wednesday.

Prosecutors claim Mark Johnson and others traded ahead of client purchase of British pounds

When a top executive at HSBC Holdings PLC was told a client had approved a huge currency exchange that stood to enrich the bank by millions, federal prosecutors say he couldn’t believe his luck.
“Ohhhh, f—ing Christmas,” replied Mark Johnson, the bank’s global head of foreign-exchange cash trading, according to a transcript of a call recorded in 2011.
Now, his luck has turned. The details of the call were spelled out in a criminal complaint unsealed by federal prosecutors in Brooklyn on Wednesday, hours after Mr. Johnson was arrested by federal agents at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.
Prosecutors charged Mr. Johnson and a colleague, Stuart Scott, the former HSBC European head of currency trading, of fraudulently front-running a $3.5 billion currency trade for a client, in a deal that netted millions in profits for the bank.

WikiLeaks grabs election spotlight

The anti-secrecy organization WikiLeaks is making its presence felt in the presidential election, leaking a trove of stolen Democratic National Committee (DNC) emails last week that rocked the political world.
The emails released by WikiLeaks created a political storm for the Democratic Party, seemingly validating suspicions of Bernie Sanders and his supporters that the DNC worked against his candidacy. DNC Chairman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (R-Fla.) was forced to resign.
The furor has put the national spotlight on WikiLeaks, a site that claims to be “a giant library of the world’s most persecuted documents,” specializing in “the publication of large datasets of censored or otherwise restricted official materials involving war, spying and corruption.”
The leader of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, has promised that the group plans to publish “a lot more material” on the elections in the coming months.
“This is having so much political impact in the United States,” Assange told CNN.

Hillary Clinton's Presidential Campaign also Hacked in Attack on Democratic Party

There's a lot more to come from the DNC Hack.

The Associated Press confirmed yesterday that the computer systems used by Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign were hacked as part of the recent Democratic National Convention (DNC) hack.

Last week's email dump containing almost 20,000 emails from top DNC officials was just the beginning, which led DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz to resign as the group’s leader, as WikiLeaks announced that it was part one of its new Hillary Leaks series.

Bernie Sanders threatened with loss of Senate committee position if he didn’t endorse Hillary

Watching Sen. Bernie Sanders hoarsely shouting his praises of Hillary Clinton at the Democratic National Convention — and knowing that the hacked emails of the corrupt Democratic National Committee (DNC) reveal its machinations to undermine Bernie’s campaign — did you wonder as I did why Bernie would be so servile? The Yiddish words schmuck and schlemiel come to mind.
I thought that Hillary probably bought Bernie off with promises of some plum assignment in her administration. But I should know better because the Clintons are nasty pieces of work who wouldn’t use the carrot when the stick is so much cheaper and more effective.
Reporting from the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, independent investigative journalist Wayne Madsen says Bernie Sanders was threatened with the loss of his ranking position on the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee if he did not endorse Hillary with enthusiasm.

Hedge-Fund Money: $48.5 Million for Hillary Clinton, $19,000 for Donald Trump

Political donations from people at hedge funds have vaulted this election, and far more has gone to the Democratic nominee than to the Republican

Hedge funds are playing a far bigger role in 2016 than in past elections—and Hillary Clinton has been the single biggest beneficiary.
Owners and employees of hedge funds have made $122.7 million in campaign contributions this election cycle, according to the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics—more than twice what they gave in the entire 2012 cycle and nearly 14% of total money donated from all sources so far.
The lines around what constitutes a hedge fund aren’t always clear in the data, or in the financial industry. But the numbers are stark. The top five contributors to pro-Clinton groups are employees or owners of private investment funds, according to federal data released last week and compiled by, the center’s website. The data show seven financial firms alone have generated nearly $48.5 million for groups working on Mrs. Clinton’s behalf.

Melania Trump’s website yanked offline as questions swirl about her ‘degree’

Melania Trump addresses the RNC (Screen cap)

The website belonging to Melania Trump — wife of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump — has been taken offline amid allegations that the former model lied about earning a degree in architecture from the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia.
According to the Huffington Post, an unauthorized book about Mrs. Trump’s life released earlier this year — Melania Trump: The Inside Story — said that she attended classes for a year, but left to pursue a career in modeling.
Until it was yanked offline earlier today,’s biography section said she earned a degree in architecture and design before embarking on her career in modeling at the age of 18.

Donald Trump calls for Russia to help elect him president

Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump listens to a question during an interview after a rally in Virginia Beach, Va., July 11, 2016. (Photo by Steve Helber/AP)

There’s a temptation among some to believe Americans have seen it all before. No matter how ridiculous our politics can get, no matter how outlandish an election, no matter how severe the dysfunction, there are those who will tell you there’s nothing politically new under the sun.
Those people are wrong. We’ve never seen anything like this.
Donald Trump on Wednesday asked Russia to help find the missing emails from Hillary Clinton’s private server.
“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” Trump proposed from a podium at his Doral Resort. “I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”
The Republican presidential hopeful added that he doesn’t believe Russia was responsible for hacking DNC materials – there’s overwhelming evidence that suggests Trump is wrong – but the GOP candidate said that if Russia did steal Democratic documents, he “hopes” the Russians have Clinton’s emails.

IRS chief refers GOP allegations against Clinton Foundation to internal officek

Internal Revenue Service Commissioner John Koskinen has forwarded House Republicans' allegations against the Clinton Foundation to the agency's exempt organizations office for consideration.
"This program considers all referrals and will send you a separate acknowledgement letter when it receives your information," Koskinen said last week in a letter to Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.).
Blackburn and dozens of other Republican House members sent a letter to Koskinen and the heads of the FBI and the Federal Trade Commission earlier this month asking the agencies to investigate the Clinton Foundation. The lawmakers said that media reports and IRS filings "portray a lawless 'Pay to Play' enterprise that has been operating under a cloak of philanthropy for years and should be investigated."

EXCLUSIVE: IRS Launches Investigation Of Clinton Foundation

Hiya John!  Welcome to the party.  Come play with us.
IRS Commissioner John Koskinen referred congressional charges of corrupt Clinton Foundation “pay-to-play” activities to his tax agency’s exempt operations office for investigation, The Daily Caller News Foundation has learned.
The request to investigate the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation on charges of “public corruption” was made in a July 15 letter by 64 House Republicans to the IRS, FBI and Federal Trade Commission (FTC). They charged the foundation is “lawless.”
The initiative is being led by Rep. Marsha Blackburn, a Tennessee Republican who serves as the vice chairwoman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, which oversees FTC. The FTC regulates public charities alongside the IRS.
The lawmakers charged the Clinton Foundation is a “lawless ‘pay-to-play’ enterprise that has been operating under a cloak of philanthropy for years and should be investigated.”

WikiLeaks' Julian Assange: 'No Proof' Hacked DNC Emails Came From Russia

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange told NBC News on Monday that "there is no proof whatsoever" that his organization got almost 20,000 hacked Democratic National Committee emails from Russian intelligence —adding it's what's in the emails that's important, not who hacked them.
In a Skype interview with Richard Engel for "NBC Nightly News," Assange rejected that it hadn't even been proven that it was WikiLeaks that published some email messages that have been analyzed in outlets like The New York Times.

Donna Brazile Out, Marcia Fudge In. Third DNC Chair In 8 Hours

Remember, I am only the messenger.

Poor baby.
FBI Director James Comey, "Ugh, Not again".
Contrary to public ignorance, this entire presidential race is about child welfare, or rather the final leg of implementing the privatization scheme to access the Social Security Trust Fund.

James Comey, FBI director is more than likely not a happy camper right now.

Since the public has taken an interest into the DNC convention, here are the latest updates:

The FBI is now investigating the so-called "Russian hacking" of the DNC.

If the Russians can hack the DNC, logic would present itself that it hacked into other, "unsecured, non-encrypted" servers or even the RNC?

(FYI:  Rumor in the cyberverse has it, the hack was in-house.)

And now, the plot thickens.  Marcia Fudge was. according to her own words, hand picked by the Clinton campaign weeks ago.

You can’t make this stuff up. The Democratic National Convention has now announced its 3rd chairperson in the last 8 hours. According to and confirmed by CNN:
Earlier today, Debbie Wasserman Shultz was outed as the DNC Chairwoman on the eve of the convention after a weekend that saw her entire office and staff exposed in an embarrassing email dump of the Democratic National Committee, exposing a concerted effort to fraudulently hand the nomination to Hillary Clinton by conspiring to derail any hopes of Bernie Sanders securing the nomination. This lead to Debbie Wasserman Shultz immediately being hired as a chair of the Clinton Campaign.
Shortly after the Wasserman Shultz resignation, CNN released Donna Brazile from her CNN contract so she could fulfill the duties as the DNC Chairperson on an interim basis for the convention in Philadelphia. She was expected to be interim Chairperson until after the elections in November. This lasted about 30 minutes, then all hell broke loose as numerous websites, this one included, published scathing articles showing that Brazile was as deeply involved in the fraudulent activities as Wasserman Shultz was. You can read the Brazile emails here. She called Bernie Sanders “stupid” and threatened to “cuss out his staff”.
Well, Bernie apparently still has some power left and apparently now has used it to force Brazile out and the Democrats have now named a 3rd chairperson.
Marcia Fudge has now been named as the new interim chair.

BREAKING: Hillary Clinton Brings Disgraced DNC Chair Onto Her Campaign

Mere hours after Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned as chair of the DNC, Hillary Clinton has already given her a high ranking position in her campaign. after Wikileaks released emails
that showed her team showed a clear bias for Clinton over Bernie Sanders during the Democratic primaries, with DNC CFO Brad Marshall going so far as to suggest attacking his faith in Bible belt states Kentucky and West Virginia.

In an official statement, Clinton praised Wasserman Schultz without mentioning the email scandal, commending her “hard work and leadership.” Wasserman Schultz’s new job will be to act as honorary chairman of the Clinton campaign’s “50-state” program:
“There’s simply no one better at taking the fight to the Republicans than Debbie–which is why I am glad that she has agreed to serve as honorary chair of my campaign’s 50-state program to gain ground and elect Democrats in every part of the country, and will continue to serve as a surrogate for my campaign nationally, in Florida, and in other key states.”

Kaine's crime-busting past may hurt Clinton's outreach to blacks

Democrat Hillary Clinton's pick of Tim Kaine as her vice presidential running mate could hamper her efforts to reach out to African-American voters because of Kaine's past embrace of crime-fighting strategies that have driven up the U.S. prison population and are unpopular in the black community.
The now-defunct Project Exile that Kaine backed was so unusual it was championed by Republicans and Democrats alike and by both the top U.S. gun lobby group and gun-control advocates. But the federal program launched in 1997 in Richmond, Virginia, was also criticized at the time as a racially biased initiative that condemned young black men to lengthy prison terms.
Clinton has come under fire herself from black activists for her past support for tough-on-crime policies of the 1990s now blamed for a surge in U.S. prison population and heightened tensions between law enforcement and black communities.
One of her fundraisers got disrupted earlier this year by activists who asked her to “apologize for mass incarceration.”
Clinton named Kaine as her running mate late on Friday, making what is considered a safe choice for her battle against Republican presidential rival Donald Trump.
As Richmond mayor from 1998 to 2001, Kaine, 58, was a vocal supporter of Project Exile, crediting it with reducing the city's murder rate.
Its goal was to literally live up to its name by making illegal gun possession a federal, not a state, crime, which allowed prosecutors to send convicted felons, most of them black, to a distant federal penitentiary for at least five years.
Sam Sinyangwe, co-founder of Campaign Zero, a group focused on curtailing police violence, said Kaine's choice could exacerbate Clinton's problems rallying support of African-Americans, particularly younger people.
"To select somebody like (Kaine) is not a sign of good leadership potential in a president," Sinyangwe said.
Nicole Lee, a civil-rights lawyer and activist in Washington, D.C. who is African-American, also expressed concern.
“Project Exile broke black families," she said. "This is not a benign thing to be for. These measures were not used against white kids in the suburbs with guns, they were used against black kids in the cities.”
To defeat Trump in the Nov. 8 presidential election, Clinton needs high turnout among blacks and other minority voters to offset Trump's popularity among white voters.
During the 1990s, she supported tough-on-crime initiatives backed by her husband, former President Bill Clinton, but now vows to "end the era of mass incarceration."
Her campaign is trying to walk a political tightrope after the killings of two black men by police and the shooting deaths of police officers in Texas and Louisiana. She has offered support for the Black Lives Matter movement, while also strongly condemning the killings of police officers.
Officials who were in Richmond during Kaine's mayoral tenure believe the community, ravaged by the crack-cocaine epidemic and an escalating murder rate, had to take dramatic steps. Amy Dudley, a spokeswoman in Kaine's Senate office, said the senator stood by the program, believing that it reduced gun violence.
Jerry Oliver, the police chief at the time and an African-American, said the program focused on black communities out of necessity. “We had to be where the problems were,” he said.
The National Rifle Association, the nation’s biggest gun lobby, was an early proponent of Project Exile as was the gun-control advocacy group Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.
As Richmond's first white mayor in more than a decade, Kaine was widely credited for helping to bridge racial divisions in the city, but Project Exile drew fire from defense lawyers and community advocates who argued that the program unfairly targeted African-Americans.
Kevin Ring, vice president of Families Against Mandatory Minimums, a Washington advocacy group lobbying against federal sentencing minimums, said that Kaine, like Clinton, will have to demonstrate to black voters that he has "evolved" on the issue.
"There are some that will be bothered. There will be questions," Ring said.

Kaine supports legislation that would roll back some mandatory minimum federal sentences and give judges more discretion, although his office says he still supports firm sentences for illegal gun possession. Kaine's backing of Project Exile also makes him odd bedfellows with Trump, who has made law and order a central theme of his candidacy. Trump has called for the program's revival and his campaign website said it was "tremendous."

DNC emails: Wasserman Schultz furiously pressured MSNBC after it criticized her “unfair” treatment of Sanders

DNC emails: Wasserman Schultz furiously pressured MSNBC after it criticized her "unfair" treatment of SandersDebbie Wasserman Schultz, the chair of the Democratic National Committee, was furious when she was criticized by MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski.

Wasserman Schultz called for Brzezinski to “apologize” and told her co-worker Chuck Todd “this must stop.” The DNC chair even complained to MSNBC’s president.

In May, Brzezinski held a segment on the program “Morning Joe” in which she condemned Wasserman Schultz’s “unfair” treatment of Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primary.

“This has been very poorly handled from the start. It has been unfair, and they haven’t taken him seriously, and it starts, quite frankly, with the person that we just heard speaking,” Brzezinski said, referring to Wasserman Schultz.

“She should step down,” Brzezinski added.

New Guccifer 2.0 dump highlights ‘wobbly Dems’ on Iran deal

The call centers around five issues — the budget, immigration, gun violence, partisan stalling of the attorney general nomination and the Iran nuclear framework, which would be announced a week later.
Notes on the Iran deal describe the then upcoming announcement as a “good deal to protect national security” but notes that “wobbly [D]emocrats want to scratch this thing.”
“Wobbly Dems — booker, Casey, warner, peters, man chin and gillibrand — cold run up the score on Menendez bill and could torpedo this,” the notes read, likely referring to Sens. Cory Booker (N.J.), Bob Casey (Pa.), Mark Warner (Va.), Joe Manchin (W.Va.) and Kristen Gillibrand (N.Y.) and a pending sanctions bill co-written by Bob Menendez (N.J.).
Notes on immigration point out that no one would “mov[e] anything in this Congress” and mention an upcoming report that this was “the most anti-immigrant congress.” The immigration section also includes the lines “People are confused back home” followed by “Chicago Mayor’s race is taking a lot of our efforts right now,” suggesting that Democracy Strategies Chicago office was included on the call.
Other notes push pro forma strategies hitting Republicans on a budget that “gut[ted] Medicaid,” gun control and the stalled confirmation of the attorney general despite then-Attorney General Eric Holder’s plan to step down two weeks after the Democracy Strategies call.
The other documents include a memo sent on March 24, 2015 — weeks before presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton had announced her candidacy — to political operatives on how to legally solicit money for pro-Clinton super-PACs. The memo was sent to political consultant John Podesta, now Clinton's campaign chairman; Clinton fundraising guru Dennis Cheng; and campaign manager Robby Mook.

Leaked Email Indicates DNC Wanted Bernie Sanders Interrogated About His Faith

On Friday, WikiLeaks published 20,000 internal emails taken from the Democratic National Committee. The one getting perhaps the most attention was a message from DNC CFO Brad Marshall, in which he appears to be looking to find someone to ask presidential candidate Bernie Sanders whether or not he believed in God. George Harrison estate offended that RNC used his music

Donald Trump and the Republican National Convention have incurred the wrath of yet another musician.

The George Harrison estate blasted the use of his hit "Here Comes the Sun" Thursday night as Ivanka Trump took the stage.
"The unauthorized use of #HereComestheSun at the #RNCinCLE is offensive & against the wishes of the George Harrison estate," the estate tweeted late Thursday, as the RNC wrapped up in Cleveland.

The estate followed up with another tweet suggesting a more pessimistic song from Harrison's post-Beatles repertoire: "If it had been Beware of Darkness, then we MAY have approved it! #TrumpYourself.
