'We will watch you': Bilderberg website hacked

'We will watch you': Bilderberg website hacked

Hackers have taken down the website of the Bilderberg Club, replacing the shadowy organization's page with a warning that the Atlanticist elites have a year to work for the benefit of humanity or their assets will be hacked next.
"Dear Bilderberg members, from now on, each one of you have 1 year (365 days) to truly work in favor of humans and not your private interests,” the hackers, who identified themselves as the "HackBack movement and Anonymous,” said in a message posted at bilderbergmeetings.org.
“Otherwise, we will find you and we will hack you,” they threatened the “Wealthy Elitico-Political 1 percent.”
“Mind the current situation: We control your expensive connected cars, we control your connected house security devices, we control your daughter’s laptop, we control your wife's mobile. We tape your secret meetings, we read your emails, we control your favorite escort girl’s smartwatch, we are inside your beloved banks and we are reading your assets. You won’t be safe anywhere near electricity anymore,” the hackers said.

This book was LePage’s Christmas gift to Maine lawmakers

AUGUSTA (BDN) -- Lawmakers got a Christmas present from Gov. Paul LePage: A pamphlet called “Understanding and Appreciating the Value of Money.”

LePage spokesman Peter Steele said the governor discovered the book when it was sent to him by its author, who wrote it originally for his granddaughter.

IRONY IS DEAD: MIKE PENCE GOES TO COURT TO BLOCK HIS EMAILS FROM BEING RELEASED TO PUBLIC

The [Pence] administration is fighting to conceal the contents of an email sent to Gov. Mike Pence by a political ally. That email is being sought by a prominent Democratic labor lawyer who says he wants to expose waste in the Republican administration.
But legal experts fear the stakes may be much higher than mere politics because the decision could remove a judicial branch check on executive power and limit a citizen’s right to know what the government is doing and how it spends taxpayer dollars.

Judge orders search warrant unsealed in Clinton email investigation

NEW YORK
Search warrant in Clinton email probe to be unsealed
A federal judge in New York on Monday ordered a search warrant in the Hillary Clinton email investigation to be unsealed, a decision that probably will mean the public will learn more details about the FBI’s controversial decision on the eve of the presidential election to resume the closed probe.
U.S. District Judge P. Kevin Castel ordered that the warrant — along with the reasons that an FBI agent gave for seeking it and an inventory of what was recovered — be unsealed by noon Tuesday. The documents could be telling, revealing what cause the FBI felt it had to search a computer belonging to disgraced former congressman Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) for evidence in the Clinton email case.

House Dems: Russia hacking probe needs political 'safeguards'

Lawmakers say Trump’s dismissal of Russian hacking and his business investments could ‘threaten the impartiality’ of an investigation.

Dean of the U.S. House
of Representatives
John Conyers, Jr.
Top Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee are demanding intelligence officials put “safeguards” in place to ensure any investigation into Russian hacking is free of political influence ahead of President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.

The lawmakers say Trump’s repeated dismissal of the Russian hacking along with his possible business investments in the county could “threaten the impartiality” of an investigation while he’s president.

The letter, sent to Attorney General Loretta Lynch and FBI Director James Comey, also calls on federal investigators to make public additional details about Russian attempts to undermine the election, including whether there is a criminal investigation and if so, when it started.

“We strongly and urgently request that safeguards be put in place — prior to the completion of the presidential transition — to ensure that any criminal investigation into these matters is conducted in an independent manner and free of improper partisan influence,” House Judiciary Committee ranking member John Conyers (D-Mich.) wrote Wednesday.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas), top Democrat on the committee’s crime panel, also signed onto the letter, obtained by POLITICO.

“To the extent that this investigation extends to any U.S. persons — including any associate of President Elect Donald Trump — we ask that you confirm this as well,” they added.

Conyers and Jackson Lee also cite Trump’s potential conflicts of interest surrounding his business holdings, including possible financial ties to Russia, as the need for an independent investigation.

The Judiciary Democrats say any probe into Russian cyber warfare should be treated with just as much importance as the controversial investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server.

“These and other incidents concerning investigatory actions — or lack thereof — in the run up to the recent election have deeply shaken the reputation for fairness previously enjoyed by federal law enforcement and reinforce the need to appropriately handle any pending criminal investigation,” they write, citing Comey’s decision to publicly re-open the FBI’s investigation into Clinton’s email practices days before the election.

Conyers and Jackson Lee also echo calls for an “independent and bipartisan commission” to fully investigate Russia’s actions in the run-up toNov. 8. The letter comes after growing demands from key senators for GOP leaders to establish a select congressional committee to dig into the issue.

President Barack Obama and other top intelligence officials have said Russia was behind the election hacking that led to the release of thousands of Democratic documents, including Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta’s emails and personal information for lawmakers and staffers, and resulted in the resignation of Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz just hours before the Democratic convention.

But the president-elect and some Republicans have dismissed allegations of Russia’s role in the document dumps and the country's attempts to sway voters in Trump’s favor ahead of Election Day.

“If Russia, or some other entity, was hacking, why did the White House wait so long to act? Why did they only complain after Hillary lost?” Trump tweeted last week. He’s also called the claims “ridiculous” and “just another excuse.” Director of National Intelligence James Clapper announced onOct. 7, more than a month before the election, that U.S. intelligence agencies agreed that Russia had conducted the hacking operations in an attempt to meddle in the election.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) has publicly sparred with top intelligence officials, saying they have refused to brief him and other members of the panel on the issue in recent weeks. Nunes last week announced plans for committee members to visit the intelligence agencies in January to learn more about the Russian investigation.

So far, top Republicans, including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), have rejected requests for a separate probe, saying the committees with jurisdiction over cybersecurity can handle the investigation.

The Senate and House Intelligence Committees are taking the lead on investigating the issue but several other committees, including House Judiciary, have some jurisdiction.

Key lawmakers, including incoming Democratic leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Jack Reed (D-R.I.), have argued that a select panel is needed to head off problems from too many committees being involved.

McConnell again ruled out the idea of a special committee during an interview with a Kentucky PBS outlet Tuesday.

"It's a serious issue, but it doesn't require a select committee," McConnell said. "We already have a committee set up to do this."

US Intel Vets Dispute Russia Hacking Claims

As the hysteria about Russia’s alleged interference in the U.S. election grows, a key mystery is why U.S. intelligence would rely on “circumstantial evidence” when it has the capability for hard evidence, say U.S. intelligence veterans.

Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity
MEMORANDUM
Allegations of Hacking Election Are Baseless

New York Times report on Monday alluding to “overwhelming circumstantial evidence” leading the CIA to believe that Russian President Vladimir Putin “deployed computer hackers with the goal of tipping the election to Donald J. Trump” is, sadly, evidence-free. This is no surprise, because harder evidence of a technical nature points to an inside leak, not hacking – by Russians or anyone else.

Seal of the National Security Agency
Seal of the National Security Agency
Monday’s Washington Post reports that Sen. James Lankford, R-Oklahoma, a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, has joined other senators in calling for a bipartisan investigation of suspected cyber-intrusion by Russia. Reading our short memo could save the Senate from endemic partisanship, expense and unnecessary delay.

In what follows, we draw on decades of senior-level experience – with emphasis on cyber-intelligence and security – to cut through uninformed, largely partisan fog. Far from hiding behind anonymity, we are proud to speak out with the hope of gaining an audience appropriate to what we merit – given our long labors in government and other areas of technology. And corny though it may sound these days, our ethos as intelligence professionals remains, simply, to tell it like it is – without fear or favor.

THE CIA’S MOP-UP MAN: L.A. TIMES REPORTER CLEARED STORIES WITH AGENCY BEFORE PUBLICATION

A prominent national security reporter for the Los Angeles Times routinely submitted drafts and detailed summaries of his stories to CIA press handlers prior to publication, according to documents obtained by The Intercept.

Email exchanges between CIA public affairs officers and Ken Dilanian, now an Associated Press intelligence reporter who previously covered the CIA for the Times, show that Dilanian enjoyed a closely collaborative relationship with the agency, explicitly promising positive news coverage and sometimes sending the press office entire story drafts for review prior to publication. In at least one instance, the CIA’s reaction appears to have led to significant changes in the story that was eventually published in the Times.

“I’m working on a story about congressional oversight of drone strikes that can present a good opportunity for you guys,” Dilanian wrote in one email to a CIA press officer, explaining that what he intended to report would be “reassuring to the public” about CIA drone strikes. In another, after a series of back-and-forth emails about a pending story on CIA operations in Yemen, he sent a full draft of an unpublished report along with the subject line, “does this look better?” In another, he directly asks the flack: “You wouldn’t put out disinformation on this, would you?”

Gov. LePage orders Department of Labor not to enforce minimum wage law

Gov. LePage orders Department of Labor not to enforce minimum wage law

In a media statement released on Wednesday, Maine Governor Paul LePage announced that his administration will refuse to enforce a portion of the minimum wage law passed by referendum in November. According to the announcement, the Maine Department of Labor “will not bring enforcement actions against any employer who fails to comply” with an increase from $3.75 to $5 an hour in the base wage paid to workers, like restaurant servers, who also receive tips.
These employers would still be in violation of state law during the period of non-enforcement in January and could face civil penalties, as LePage can’t unilaterally roll back the minimum wage increase, which passed by a double-digit margin.
The governor’s actions earned quick condemnation from advocates for raising the minimum wage and Democratic leaders.

Detroit to get new voting machines as city clerk blames state, human error

636173444351848287-riley-and-winfrey.jpgFive weeks after a national scandal involving broken Detroit voting machines and ineffective poll workers, state Elections Director Chris Thomas said Wednesday evening that the city will get all new voting machines in time for the 2017 mayoral and City Council elections.
But broken machines were not the biggest problem Detroit endured election night. Citing a memo he just received, Thomas said there were dozens of other problems that occurred Nov. 8.
“I got an e-mail yesterday from Wayne County showing me what the issues were on (Detroit) polling places and precincts, and quite frankly, it was somewhat shocking,” he said.

Detroit withheld nearly 100 poll books from presidential election certification

Detroit election officials withheld nearly 100 poll books for several days while Wayne County was trying to certify the presidential election, according to documents obtained by Motor City Muckrakerand first reported by the Detroit News.
A memo from county clerk officials states that Detroit failed to deliver 92 of the 662 precinct poll books in a timely fashion, raising serious questions about why the information was withheld.
Five of the poll books remained missing last month. It wasn’t clear Thursday whether the books ever surfaced.
Poll books include the names of voters and are necessary for ensuring that election tabulations were not falsified.
It’s just the latest problem to arise from Detroit Clerk’s Office, which bungled the Nov. 8 election. Dozens of voting machines broke, and scores of people left without casting a ballot.

EXCLUSIVE: Ex-British ambassador who is now a WikiLeaks operative claims Russia did NOT provide Clinton emails

they were handed over to him at a D.C. park by an intermediary for 'disgusted' Democratic whistleblowers

  • Craig Murray, former British ambassador to Uzbekistan and associate of Julian Assange, told the Dailymail.com  he flew to Washington, D.C. for emails
  • He claims he had a clandestine hand-off in a wooded area near American University with one of the email sources
  • The leakers' motivation was 'disgust at the corruption of the Clinton Foundation and the  'tilting of the primary election playing field against Bernie Sanders'
  • Murray says: 'The source had legal access to the information. The documents came from inside leaks, not hacks'
  • 'Regardless of whether the Russians hacked into the DNC, the documents Wikileaks published did not come from that,' Murray insists
  • Murray is a controversial figure who was relieved of his post as British ambassador amid allegations of misconduct but is close to Wikileaks

FEDERAL JUDGE MAY UNSEAL CONTROVERSIAL FBI SEARCH WARRANT FOR CLINTON EMAILS

The controversy over FBI Director James Comey’s announcement of a new review into Hillary Clinton’s private email server just 11 days before the recent presidential election moved into federal court Tuesday with a hearing focused on the search warrant that gave FBI agents access to Clinton emails found on the computer of Anthony Weiner, the former congressman and husband of a top Clinton aide.
Los Angeles lawyer E. Randol Schoenberg, best known for recovering Jewish-owned art looted by the Nazis, hired lawyers to file a lawsuit last week in an attempt to unseal that search warrant and related affidavits. “Countless American citizens, including Secretary Clinton, believe that Comey’s announcement and the reopening of the investigation might have single-handedly swayed the election,” states the lawsuit, which was filed in Manhattan federal court on December 7.

Mike Pence's Lookalike Is Collecting Money to Support Everything Mike Pence Hates

Vice President-elect Mike Pence has a lookalike. The second Mike Pence, who goes by the name Mike Hot-Pence (you can see why), is a New York-based graphic designer named Glen Pannell. The resemblance is striking.

One Mike Pence sports vintage athletic shorts, the other a penchant for gay conversion therapy. One spends his weekends collecting money for LGBT causes in Times Square; the other signed a "religious freedom" bill targeting LGBT citizens into law. One carries a jar for donations to the Trevor Project, the Natural Resources Defense Council, and Planned Parenthood; the other tried to pass the most prohibitive anti-abortion law in the country. One is gay; the other once argued "homosexuals are not as a group able bodied." One Mike Pence almost certainly didn't vote for the other Mike Pence.

Roger Stone: Trump interviewed Romney to 'torture' him

Roger Stone, a longtime adviser to Donald Trump, says the president-elect interviewed Mitt Romney for the secretary of State position just to "torture him" for his former criticism.
In an appearance on InfoWars Sunday, Stone said Trump had been toying with Romney.
"Donald Trump was interviewing Mitt Romney for secretary of State in order to torture him," Stone said on conspiracy theory website InfoWars. "To toy with him. And given the history, that’s completely understandable. Mitt Romney crossed a line. He didn’t just oppose Trump, which is his democratic right, he called him a phony and a fraud. And a con man. And that’s not the kind of man you want as Secretary of State."

Kanye West Visits Donald Trump

After weeks of reports of severe exhaustion and ensuing hospitalization, Kanye West walked into Trump Tower on Tuesday morning.
Journalists who caught a glimpse of the musician entering the tightly guarded building in Manhattan took to Twitter to document the strange spectacle. Mr. West’s appearance occurred shortly before former Gov. Rick Perry of Texas was named as President-elect Donald J. Trump’s pick to lead the Energy Department — the same agency that Mr. Perry said during the 2012 presidential race that he wanted to abolish.
For Mr. Trump, the visit was another headline-grabber stuffed into a series of more consequential events, including the possibility of a showdown with Republicans in Congress over intelligence reports that Russia may have interfered in the election.
Once Mr. West returned to the lobby with Mr. Trump, he didn’t provide much information about the reasons for his visit.

Brian Banks wants Michigan AG disqualified from case

Brian BanksThe charges were filed by Assistant Attorney General Michael Frezza, the live-in boyfriend of another Assistant Attorney General, Alison Furtaw, who was a $2.900 contributor to the Red and Blue political action committee that contributed to Banks’ Democratic opponent, Pamela Sossi, as well as other 2016 candidates. The actual state attorney listed on court documents in the case now is Richard Cunnigham.
“The charges were clearly politically motivated. The Attorney General sat on the information until the last day before the statute of limitations ran out," said Banks' attorney Ben Gonek. "The bank never filed a criminal complaint in this matter. The charges are not only ridiculous, it's pretty shameful to use taxpayer dollars prosecuting crimes like this when ther are plenty of other crimes that warrant proseucutos' attention."

Philly ex-congressman Fattah’s sentence: A decade in prison, $614K restitution

Congressman Chaka Fattah

A federal judge sentenced former U.S. Congressman Chaka Fattah to spend a decade in prison and pay $614,000 in restitution to victims of corruption charges on which the longtime legislator was convicted this summer.
For 22 years, Fattah represented Pennsylvania’s second congressional district and has long been one of the top politicians in the city of Philadelphia. In open court today, moments before handing down his sentence, U.S. District Judge Harvey Bartle III called Fattah’s crimes “astonishing” and said “political corruption in high places is a grave matter.
“Those in high places,” Bartle said, “will certainly know what happened in this courtroom today.”

Fox contributor Judy Miller calls investigation of Russian hacking Obama’s ‘tar baby’ gift to Trump

Judith Miller, formerly of the New York Times, said hacking investigation could be a 'tar baby' for Trump (Screen capture)

In  a discussion about the investigation into Russian hacking of the 2016 election, former New York Times writer Judith Miller warned against Trump involving himself in the mess, saying it could be a “tar baby” for his nascent administration.
“As Sen. McCain said, it’s pretty clear that the Russians did something,” said Miller. “And it’s pretty clear — according to 17 U.S intelligence agencies — what what they did helped Donald Trump.”
The motive, she said, could be harder to determine.
As much as Trump might want all discussion of the matter to cease, she continued, “it’s not going away.”
“Pres. Obama isn’t going to let it go away because his full intelligence review guarantees that this tar baby is going to be delivered to Mr. Trump as a ‘welcome’ present to the White House before inauguration on Jan. 20,” she said.

U.S. Arms Sales Overseas Are On Record Pace With Big Mideast Sales

The State Department has OK'd a $3.1 billion order for Boeing-made Chinook helicopters. (Boeing)

U.S. arms sales overseas could crush records in fiscal year 2017 after the State Department cleared helicopter, missile and other military sales to allies in the Middle East. But President-elect Trump's anti-Muslim rhetoric could weigh on future sales to the region.
On Thursday the State Department approved a possible sale of 37 Boeing (BA) Apache helicopters to the United Arab Emirates along with engines and other spare parts for an estimated $3.5 billion, according to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency.
An estimated $3.51 billion order for 48 Boeing Chinook helicopters, related equipment, training, and support was approved for Saudi Arabia.
Other major deals approved included an $108 million deal for TOW anti-tank missiles to Morocco and United Technologies' (UTX) Pratt & Whitney F117 engines and logistic support to Qatar.

Obama orders ‘full review’ of 2016 election hacking

President Obama has ordered the U.S. intelligence community to conduct a “full review” of the cyberattacks during the 2016 election and to prepare a report on the subject — including to Congress — before he leaves office, White House homeland security adviser Lisa Monaco said Thursday.
“We may have crossed into a new threshold,” Monaco said at a breakfast meeting with reporters, referring to the “malicious” election-related cyberattacks, which U.S. intelligence officials have said publicly they are “confident” were directed by the Russian government. “And it’s incumbent upon us to take a stock of that, to review, to conduct some after-action, to understand what this means and what has happened and to impart lessons learned.”
Deputy White House press secretary Eric Schultz later told reporters that Obama ordered the review earlier this week, describing it as a “deep dive” by U.S. intelligence agencies — working with the FBI and the State Department — into malicious cyberattacks that the U.S. intelligence community have already determined was directed at the “highest levels” of the Russian government. (Schultz notably said Thursday that the U.S. intelligence community has “high confidence” in that conclusion. The intelligence community had previously said it was “confident” about the Russian role.) He added that the review will also encompass cyberprobing and “scanning” of state election systems last summer, as well as look back at an earlier election-related cyberattack on the campaigns of Obama and Sen. John McCain in 2008, which U.S. officials attributed to the Chinese government.

Trump adviser has pushed Clinton conspiracy theories

Trump adviser

WASHINGTON — Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn, President-elect Donald Trump’s choice for national security adviser, has a well-established penchant for pushing conspiracy theories about Islamic law spreading in the West and the attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya. Less well noticed was his willingness throughout the presidential campaign to indulge in conspiracy theories about Hillary Clinton.
Six days before the election, Flynn, the former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, tweeted a fake news story that claimed the police and prosecutors in New York had found evidence linking Clinton and much of her senior campaign staff to pedophilia, money laundering, perjury and other felonies. “U decide,” Flynn wrote in the Twitter message on Nov. 2, though it appeared there was little doubt what he thought.
Flynn’s month-old tweet is attracting renewed attention after a man fired a rifle on Sunday inside a Washington pizza restaurant that was the subject of false stories during the campaign tying it and the Clinton campaign to a child sex trafficking ring.

Despite facing ethics questions, these Texas lawmakers easily won re-election

State Sen. Carlos Uresti, D-San Antonio, and state Reps. Dawnna Dukes, D-Austin, and Ron Reynolds, D-Missouri City.

One faces criminal convictions for ambulance-chasing and the possibility of a year in jail. Another announced her resignation from her seat after being investigated by state auditors and the Texas Rangers. A third failed to fully disclose his business interests in a company that’s been the subject of an FBI investigation.
Yet all three state lawmakers won their re-election bids — handily — earlier this month. Voters overwhelmingly chose to send state Reps. Ron Reynolds of Missouri City and Dawnna Dukes of Austin and state Sen. Carlos Uresti of San Antonio, all Democrats, back to the Capitol, a sign of voters’ capacity for exoneration or apathy — or both.

Ben Carson didn't live in public housing

Carson grew up in Detroit. His mother and father divorced when he was young, though records obtained by the Daily Mail contradict some details Carson has given about his parents. Without his father, Carson and his family moved to Boston to save money. There they lived with Carson's aunt and uncle in two different homes, the Boston Globe reported.

Anthony Weiner Fined $65,000 for Campaign Finance Violations

The news keeps getting worse for Anthony D. Weiner.
Mr. Weiner, the disgraced former congressman whose lewd text message exchanges with a teenager spurred new federal scrutiny of Hillary Clinton’s emails in the final days of the presidential campaign, was fined $65,000 on Thursday by New York City’s Campaign Finance Board for violations during his failed bid for mayor in 2013.
Mr. Weiner’s campaign, which raised and spent millions stretching back to the 2009 race when he first made a run for mayor, is also required to return its remaining balance of $195,000, which the board said was unspent public matching funds.
Among the violations committed by Mr. Weiner’s campaign, according to the board: using campaign funds to pay for two cellphones, including the personal phone used by Mr. Weiner from May to September 2013, the height of his Democratic primary campaign.
It was during that period that new revelations of sexually explicit text messages and photographs, sent to women after he had left Congress, came to light and derailed Mr. Weiner’s bid for mayor, which had been gaining momentum — partially based on the notion that he had moved beyond his lewd messaging.

This Muslim Comedian Sat Next To Donald Trump’s Son On A Plane To Scotland

It took him a minute before he sat down to process the situation. “When I sat down I said: ‘How you doing?’ Trump says: ‘I’m doing good.’ And I said: ‘You have no idea how fantastic this is for me right now. My name is Mohammed. Salams. I’m a standup comedian. This is fantastic for me.’”

Jeremy Scahill: TigerSwan Security, Linked to Blackwater, Now Coordinates Intel for Dakota Access

e speak with Intercept co-founder Jeremy Scahill, who has spent years reporting on private security contractors such as the private security firm TigerSwan, which has links to the now-defunct mercenary firm Blackwater and is in charge of coordinating intelligence for the Dakota Access pipeline company. He discusses the company’s track record as more than 100 Native Americans and allies fighting the $3.8 billion Dakota Access pipeline have been injured by police in North Dakota. Many were attacked with rubber bullets, tear gas, mace canisters and water cannons in freezing temperatures. The attack began after the water protectors attempted to clear access to a public bridge, which has been blocked by authorities using military equipment chained to concrete barriers.
