Armed hate group met at Texas mosque protest by gun-toting worshipers
An anti-Muslim hate group planned an armed protest at an African-American mosque in Texas — but it didn’t go as planned.
The group, the Bureau of American Islamic Relations, or BAIR, has made it a habit in the past to show up at mosques with firearms and intimidate worshipers. In November, armed protesters stalked Muslims in Irving. In December, they again stalked Muslims at the Islamic Association of North Texas.

State Department halts review of Clinton emails at FBI request
On Jan. 29, the State Department said 22 emails sent or received by Clinton had been upgraded to top secret at the request U.S. intelligence agencies and would not be made public as part of the release of thousands of Clinton's emails. It said that none of the emails was marked classified when sent.

LePage Refuses to Swear-In Newly-Elected State Senator
Gov. Paul LePage struck back Friday at State House Democrats for what he said was shabby treatment of his nominee to the Maine Unemployment Insurance Commission.
Democrats refused to support Steven Webster for consideration, saying he lacked the temperament to hold the position.
LePage then refused to swear in newly-elected Democratic state Sen. Susan Deschambault, of Biddeford, saying he would take all of the time allowed under Maine law to perform that duty.
