Rebranded Hillary Clinton Sets Her Sights On The Pulpit

Former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is looking to become a spiritual leader after losing to President Donald Trump in 2016, according to reports from people in Clinton’s circle.
Clinton wants to preach, according to her pastor Rev. Bill Shillady, who has written a book about the former secretary of state’s spiritual life, particularly during her years-long campaign for president.
During a promotional photoshoot for “Strong for a Moment Like This: The Daily Devotions Of Hillary Rodham Clinton,” a year’s worth of devotions tailored for Clinton as she campaigned for president, Clinton told Shillady that she’d like spiritual leadership to be part of her career.
Clinton asked Shillady not to write about her desire to be a pastor, however, “it will make me seem much too pious,” Clinton told Shillady, according The Atlantic.

Trump Foundation Admits to Self-Dealing Violations

The Donald J. Trump Foundation, the private foundation established by President-elect Donald Trump, indicated in its 2015 filing with the Internal Revenue Service that it violated a legal prohibition against "self-dealing," the Washington Post reports.
In the section of the Trump Foundation's 2015 Form 990-PF where the foundation is asked to indicate whether it transferred income or assets to a disqualified person or persons — a category that can include the foundation’s leadership, related businesses, or the founding donor's family members — the form was checked "yes." On another line, the foundation indicated it also had engaged in self-dealing in previous years. Such violations can carry penalties, and the foundation's leaders can be required to repay money that it spent on their own behalf. Whether the foundation has already been assessed or paid penalties related to self-dealing, however, is unclear. The Trump Foundation was established nearly thirty years ago and had not previously admitted to such a violation.

Bombshell new report reveals Donald Trump’s company violated US trade embargo with Castro’s Cuba

A company controlled by Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for president, secretly conducted business in communist Cuba during Fidel Castro’s presidency despite strict American trade bans that made such undertakings illegal, according to interviews with former Trump executives, internal company records and court filings.

Documents show that the Trump company spent a minimum of $68,000 for its 1998 foray into Cuba at a time when the corporate expenditure of even a penny in the Caribbean country was prohibited without U.S. government approval. But the company did not spend the money directly. Instead, with Trump’s knowledge, executives funneled the cash for the Cuba trip through an American consulting firm called Seven Arrows Investment and Development Corporation. Once the business consultants traveled to the island and incurred the expenses for the venture, Seven Arrows instructed senior officers with Trump’s company—then called Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts—how to make it appear legal by linking it after-the-fact to a charitable effort.

Hillary election win could raise uncertainty over future of Clinton Foundation

The Clinton Foundation will have to face some changes if Hillary Clinton wins the election. Some worry that “this organization is just too big and helps too many people to just give up on it for political expediency.”

The Clinton Foundation has caused political headaches for its namesakes — and it’s unclear what they’ll do with their charitable organization if they return to the White House.
Some say the multibillion-dollar foundation should be disbanded to avoid possible conflicts of interest. Others say the foundation does too much good work around the globe and should continue under new leadership.
Hillary Clinton’s team is facing renewed questions about conflicts of interest after new emails released last week revealed that Clinton Foundation staffers asked top State Department officials to provide foundation donors access to other senior government employees.

Congresswoman indicted, accused of using charity as 'slush fund'

Rep. Corrine Brown (D-Fla.) and her chief of staff, Elias “Ronnie” Simmons, are being charged with 24 counts of fraud in connection with a fake charity, according to a federal grand jury indictment that was released Friday.

The charges include mail and wire fraud, conspiracy and tax fraud, according to the Department of Justice.

Prosecutors allege that Brown and her associates were pocketing funds from a One Door for Education Inc., an organization that billed itself as a charity for poor students even though it was not properly registered as a nonprofit.

The cash donations Hillary simply has no answer for

The cash donations Hillary simply has no answer for
Among all the rivers of money that have flowed to the Clinton family, one seems to raise the biggest national security questions of all: the stream of cash that came from 20 foreign governments who relied on weapons export approvals from Hillary Clinton’s State Department.
Federal law designates the secretary of state as “responsible for the continuous supervision and general direction of sales” of arms, military hardware and services to foreign countries. In practice, that meant that Clinton was charged with rejecting or approving weapons deals — and when it came to Clinton Foundation donors, Hillary Clinton’s State Department did a whole lot of approving.
While Clinton was secretary of state, her department approved $165 billion worth of commercial arms sales to Clinton Foundation donors. That figure from Clinton’s three full fiscal years in office is almost double the value of arms sales to those countries during the same period of President George W. Bush’s second term.

Politico Confirms: Hillary Clinton Has Kept 99% Of Funds Raised For State Parties

wisconsin1

Bernie Sanders’ accusations that Hillary Clinton is using her joint fundraising committee to skirt federal campaign finance laws are now proven.

According to a new Politico report, the Hillary Victory Fund has kept 99 percent of approximately $60 million it was supposedly raising for state Democratic Parties. Under the agreement signed by Democratic Party leaders in 33 states, the Hillary Victory Fund would solicit donations from super-wealthy donors for as much as $353,400.

The deal agreed to by state parties and the Clinton campaign allows for the first $2,700 raised by the Victory Fund to go to Hillary Clinton’s campaign. The next $33,400 is earmarked for the DNC, and the remaining funds are meant for state Democratic parties. Under this agreement, it was assumed that the DNC would spend that money helping each respective state party win down-ballot elections.
However, after the original distribution, the Clinton campaign is the sole decider of what happens to the rest of the cash.

As such, state party organizations in solidly blue states that don’t have competitive US Senate elections this year are getting zero financial benefit from the agreement. As Politico reported, the DNC exploited Minnesota’s Democratic-Farm Labor Party (the state’s Democratic Party equivalent) to the tune of $214,100:

The United States Revokes Scientology’s Tax-Exempt Status

This article is false and has been passed around the net.

The Church of Scientology loses tax exempt status
In a unanimous decision by the Supreme Court today, the eight justices ruled in favor of revoking the Church of Scientology’s tax-exempt status in the United States. Under the ruling, Scientology will still be able to operate as a business but no longer as a non-profit religious organization.

The Restriction of Political Campaign Intervention by Section 501(c)(3) Tax-Exempt Organizations

Under the Internal Revenue Code, all section 501(c)(3) organizations are absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office. Contributions to political campaign funds or public statements of position (verbal or written) made on behalf of the organization in favor of or in opposition to any candidate for public office clearly violate the prohibition against political campaign activity.  Violating this prohibition may result in denial or revocation of tax-exempt status and the imposition of certain excise taxes.

How Gen. David Petraeus Gets It, And Hillary Clinton Still Doesn't

We recently learned that Hillary Clinton and David Petraeus recently shared secret emails. But they are bound by more than just a chain of communications. Both are accused of misusing their classified emails. One has come clean, admitting mistakes. The other can't seem to admit a mistake or tell the whole truth, and it's only getting worse.

Colbert Super PAC S.H.H., a 501(c)(4)

Colbert Super PAC

Dear Person, Place, or Thing,

Did you feel it? Last Thursday, there was a shift in the space/time continuum. There have been reports of goldfish spontaneously switching gender. Dogs and cats weeping in each others' arms. The image of Federal Election Commissioner Cynthia Bauerly appearing in a tortilla in New Mexico.

Why? Because I have reached the next level and formed a 501(c)(4). I'll pause for a moment to allow you to applaud this email.

As you know, when we began Colbert Super PAC, we had a simple dream; to use the Supreme Court's Citizens' United ruling to fashion a massive money cannon that would make all those who seek the White House quake with fear and beg our allegiance...in strict accordance with federal election law.

And you've responded generously; giving your (or, possibly, your parents') hard-earned money in record numbers. And although we value those donations, we were somewhat surprised to note that none of them ended in "-illion."

That is why I formed the Colbert Super PAC S.H.H., a 501(c)(4), to help lure the big donors. As anybody who thumbs through the tax code on the toilet knows, a 501(c)(4) organization is a nonprofit that can take unlimited donations and never has to report the donors. This should be especially helpful considering that establishing this new 501(c)(4) has quadrupled our parentheses budget.

Already, we have gotten a massive donation from [NAME WITHHELD], a kind and [ADJECTIVE WITHHELD] person who only wants to [OBJECTIVE WITHHELD].

Now we are boldly and transparently entering a new era of secrecy, because as of last Thursday, we all just got one day closer to Making a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow.

Barack Obama pressed to keep Zanesville promise

Barack Obama pressed to keep Zanesville promise

Then-presidential hopeful Barack Obama speaks during his campaign in July 2008 from a podium at Eastside Community Ministry in Zanesville. At a news conference Tuesday, members of the U.S. House, the Secular Coalition for America and the Coalition Against Religious Discrimination called on Obama to fulfill the promise he made in Zanesville concerning religious discrimination. / Times Recorder file photo

ZANESVILLE -- President Barack Obama is being called upon to keep a pledge made on the campaign trail in 2008 in Zanesville.

The Secular Coalition for America and the Coalition Against Religious Discrimination, among others, are asking Obama to sign an executive order to end an exemption they say allows religious organizations receiving federal contracts to discriminate in hiring on the basis of religion.

"If you get a federal grant, you can't use that grant money to proselytize to the people you help, and you can't discriminate against them -- or against the people you hire -- on the basis of religion," Obama said at that time, while campaigning at Eastside Community Ministry.

It only takes the stroke of a pen to keep that commitment, said Sean Faircloth, executive director of the Secular Coalition.

"No congressional action is needed to right this wrong," Faircloth said. "The president simply needs to issue an executive order."

The two organizations, along with congressmen from around the country including Democrats Bobby Scott from Virginia, John Conyers from Michigan, Barney Frank from New York and Melvin Watt from North Carolina, conducted a news conference Tuesday afternoon, pleading with Obama to "keep your promise."

"We don't know why he hasn't acted on it," said Mike Meno, communications manager for Secular Coalition. "He made it three years ago, and we still have nothing."

Shin Inouye, director of specialty media in the White House Office of Communications, responded that the Department of Justice "continues to review this issue on a case-by-case basis."

In a letter signed by 52 various organizations across the country, including the American Civil Liberties Union, the American Jewish Committee, the Anti-Defamation League and Catholics for Choice, the groups state that despite hearing about the Department of Justice reviewing the issue, they have seen no forward movement and urge Obama to restore key civil rights protection against employment discrimination on the basis of religion.

The letter also reminds Obama of Executive Order 8802, which was the first executive order prohibiting government contractors from engaging in employment discrimination. That executive order was first put in place by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in June 1941.

The letter urges Obama to rescind Executive Order 13279, signed by President George W. Bush in 2002, which they think allows discrimination to take place. The order addressed equal protection of the laws for faith-based and community organizations.

"The traditional safeguard protecting against discrimination in government-funded jobs is particularly critical in government contracts," the letter states. "The government, in purchasing necessary goods and services for its own use, must not fund discrimination."

The Secular Coalition for America is an organization that serves as the national lobby for atheists, agnostics, humanists and other secular Americans and states it works to protect and strengthen the secular character of our government as the best guarantee of freedom for all.
